Hi, my name is George Papanikolaou and I am running for president of Tufts Club Greece. I graduated from Tufts on 2002 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and double major in Economics, and a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering (Robotics). I am occupied in the engineering field and in the wine business. I am running for a second term in this position in order to continue and enhance the work already commenced. The team's goal is to enhance the bonds between the alumni members and between the university and keep them tight. This can be done by holding regular events with a social, professional and academic character. Also, to hold joint events with other alumni clubs and to help out in the admissions process for new students. It is my goal to guide this work during the following term and for this I need your vote. Thank you.

My name is Irene Psyrra and I am running for Vice-President, after having just served in that position. In the fall of 2005 and upon my return from the States, I looked for ways to bring the Tufts Alumni community closer together and give back to my alma mater; that was my goal for running for office. Today, I feel that the great job of our President, George Papanikolaou, of each and every one of the members on the Board as well as of the tens of alumni that attended our events and supported our causes, have borne much fruit: our Club is up and running again, has helped many of our alumni get connected to the greater Tufts Alumni community, and has earned a good reputation among other Greek Alumni Associations. The very successful event at the Karamanlis Foundation featuring Professor Devigne spoke loud and clear on that! If re-elected, I plan on working with the same enthusiasm but a little more emphasis on charity work, where I am confident that our Club can practice the good example that Tufts University gave us all. Thanks, everyone, for your help, trust and support.

I belong to the ones that graduated from Tufts in the past Millenium, however my heart remains fatally attached to Tufts and to Boston . To maintain the strong physical and emotional relationship I keep going back a couple of times per year. This is why I responded positively to George’s invitation to run for Secretary in spite of my heavy professional and scientific schedule. I hold a Certificate of Advanced Education in Orthodontics and a Master of Science from Tufts. With a dual scholarship from the U.S., I carried out an experimental research project by which I acquired a Doctorate Degree from the University of Athens.

The urge-or call it craziness!- for excellence in my profession led me to a Diploma by the American Board of Orthodontics and memberships to restricted International Scientific Societies. While in my last year at Tufts, I took Art classes at the Museum School which helped me develop my passion for Art. Because I am sensitized towards social issues I sat in Comittees for the organisation of cultural events, environment protection, and esthetic enhancement  in the town where I live. Being interested in common affairs I served for a two year term as Vice-President to one of the greek orthodontic societies.

So here I am, ready to mingle with a more diverse, multifaceted Tufts community, eager to work with the team , that has already given us several well organized important educational and social events. I plan to help tighten the bonds between our members , mobilize other alumni like the Dental one to join our group and last but not least assist to keep an intimate contact  with the University that offered to all of us more than just excellent scholastic education.

With kindest regards,

Constantina Dalassou

Coming back to Greece after more than ten years abroad, I was happy to find a great group of Tufts alumni. As a Fletcher '06 graduate, I got involved with our small but strong community here and became Secretary of the Fletcher Club of Greece. However, Fletcher is of course part of Tufts and thus I put myself forward in this election to signal an active Fletcher presence in the Tufts board that will assist in a better cooperation and additional support to the superb work done by the previous board.

Currently, I am towards the end of my compulsory army service. I grew up in Kavala, went to undergrad in Manchester, UK, masters in the field of telecoms at UCL, worked in London for four years and then left the private sector to become an "advanced generalist" at Fletcher with a lot of cocktail stories and a focus on international negotiations, business and counter-terrorism. The crazy adventure continues!
